Mombasa City is the capital of Mombasa County and is the second largest city in Kenya. Swahili and English are spoken by the 939,000 hospitable residents.

Medical students will have first-hand experience treating patient’s ailments with GEP’s partner hospital, Coast Province General Hospital (CPGH). A government hospital that was established in 1908, it has a 700-bed capacity with 10 general wards, 3 maternity wards and 1 amenity ward.

The inpatient and outpatient medical care provided by the hospital are: immunizations, dressing, physiotherapy, MCH/F/D, pharmacy, laboratory services, orthopedic plaster and occupational therapy. There are specialized monthly programs for maxillofacial surgery missions, neurosurgery and pediatric surgery.

CPGH acts a referral and teaching hospital and covers 7 coastal districts with a population of 6 million. Based on medical records the hospital has yearly rate of inpatient admission of 32,000 and an outpatient visits of 200,000. A good thing for the community.

There are numerous community projects from various organizations partnered with the hospital like the breastfeeding program of UNICEF and the University of Ghent’s research program on mother to child HIV/AIDS transmission.

Foreign students should expect a clinical rotation in the departments of paediatrics, general medicine, emergency, obstetrics and gynecology.

Our programs are normally year-round that starts from two (2) weeks elective to six (6) weeks, yet you have the option to extended if required. SPOTS ARE ALWAYS LIMITED and are on a first come first serve basis so we advise our participants to confirm with us at least six (6) months prior to the desired date of elective.

1. Reference Letter from your school dean/administrator/employer. It is a requirement by both the government and the medial facilities we partner with that we submit an introduction letter from all participants. This could be a letter from your dean, head of department, registrar or employer acknowledging that you are or were a student/employee at your stated university/company.

2. Payment of $150.00 USD registration fee payable to via PAYPAL or BANK DEPOST
