GEP’s rural health program will introduce students to rural medicine and provide clinical experience. Students are allowed to integrate clinical medicine and rural healthcare to expand their learning and experiences.

The program focuses on patient care management in rural settings. The location is normally based on what the administrator and the students have agreed upon. The main goal of venturing the rural experience is to have an awareness of the community’s healthcare and culture.

With the help of seasoned and experienced physicians, the students will conduct the following;


  • Help diagnose bowel obstructions
  • Taking blood pressure readings and taking patients history
  • Learning and doing the aspects of surgery, radiology, endoscopy, emergency, obstetrics and family medicine
  • Participate in family medicine and provide patient care in rural communities
  • Students develop a wide range of clinical skills as a result of learning by doing
  • Gain experience and understanding of the rural communities by understanding their culture
  • Manage patients in limited medical care resources

  • Reference Letter from your school dean/administrator/employer.
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Recent photo taken within 6 months prior to registration

5. Complete the payment of your Elective Fee two (2) months before your arrival.
