It is home to the famous coral-stone Santa Monica Church in the town of Pan-ay that has the largest bell in Asia. Made up of 70 sacks of gold and silver it weighs over 10 metric tons and measures 7 feet in diameter and 5 feet in height.

Interaction with residents pose no problem, they speak English aside from Tagalog, Capiznon and Hiliganyon.

Are you feeling homesick? Call your love ones any time, share your experiences to keep them informed. Internet is available and so with cable and regular television channels. Listen to your favourite tunes through the radio. Guaranteed, you’ll never run out of exciting activities to do during days-off.

For beach enthusiasts, there are some located just kilometres away from Roxas. There is Baybay recognized for its black-sand and Mantalinga famous for its scuba diving and rotunda for sailboats. Just soak up in the sun, take a swim or stroll along the seashore.

Include Olotayan in your go-to list which can be reached through a 30-minute pump boat ride from Banica wharf. The crystal clear water will fill your eyes with colourful fishes that ballet through the current and stunning coral reef landscape serves as the backdrop.

Dance in the street and gyrate to the beat of the band in festivals like Saot Capiz, Sinadya sa Halaran., Pangahaw, Guyum-Guyuman, Talahong, and Tagbuan.

Are you hungry? Don’t leave Capiz without feasting on the rare angel wings clam locally called diwal. A haven for seafood lovers, all fresh and affordable shellfish, squid, fishes, prawns and lobster. Take your pick in cooking, these can be grilled, steamed, stewed, fried or eat it raw.

Had an unforgettable experience with GEP family in the Philippines on our dental elective, would definitely recommend for any students looking to experience hands-on work in the area and the hospitality we had as a group of 4 students was amazing, thank you!

Had the best time with Global Elective Port on our ventures in the Philippines. We were provided with not only excellent dental experience but also many fun activities. April and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and make us feel welcome throughout our stay. Couldn’t recommend dental and medical students to join the programme highly enough.
